It Takes Courage To Reach Out
Life isn't going the way you hoped. It can feel overwhelming, leaving us feeling helpless and uncertain about moving forward in our lives or important relationships. Finding a therapist to help navigate these times can be a scary and daunting task, and I understand this firsthand.
It's crucial that you feel at ease and confident in our therapeutic relationship. I provide a complimentary 15-minute phone or video consultation to ensure we are a good match. If you choose to proceed, we will schedule your first appointment, and I will send you intake forms to be completed electronically from your home.
Starting the Journey of Healing
Please keep in mind the following information to ensure a smooth first meeting, depending on whether you prefer a virtual or in-person appointment:
For Virtual appointments:
Please find a quiet and private room where you will not be disturbed or overheard. Once you have settled in, get comfortable and close all tabs on your computer before opening the link that will be emailed to you for our online appointment.
For In-Person appointments:
For in-person appointments, please arrive a few minutes early, and once you enter the building, wait in the foyer. Text me at (469) 232-7877 to let me know that you have arrived, and I will come to greet you. Lastly, please remember to turn your phone on silent before the appointment.
Therapy as a Team
I believe that therapy is a collaborative process where both the therapist and the client work together to achieve positive outcomes. My aim is to create a safe and supportive environment that promotes self-awareness, growth, and healing. It is important to me that my clients feel seen, heard, and understood. It is imperative for me to ensure that my clients feel acknowledged, respected, and heard throughout the therapeutic journey. I strive to give you the highest level of care and attention possible.
What the Therapy Process Looks Like
During our time together, you will have the chance to share your specific concerns, how they impact you and your relationships, and what you hope to accomplish through therapy. I primarily utilize three evidence-based models to assist my clients- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Together, we will develop a plan tailored to your needs and help you navigate through this stage of your journey.
How I got Started
From a very young age, I have been fascinated by individual family-of-origin history and the diverse paths people take in life. This fascination has inspired me to become a counselor and help those in need. My personal healing journey has further reinforced my passion for this profession. With the support of my family, I pursued my dream and completed a Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Texas Woman's University, as well as additional training.
I have received advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFTC), along with training in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). Since 2019, I have served on the steering team for the North Texas EFT community (NTEFT). I have also received training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). In my practice, I utilize a trauma-informed approach.
About Me
I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. After getting married, my husband and I moved to Arkansas, where we lived for four years. Eventually, we decided to return to Dallas. I became a stay-at-home mother and focused on raising our two daughters.
I understand firsthand how difficult it can be to face tough times alone. When I was going through my own struggles, I sought help from counselors and received personal support and healing that greatly benefited me.
On The Personal Side
When I am not working, I love spending quality time with my family and friends. I also love playing with my grandchildren, decorating my home, baking, and caring for my plants. Most mornings, after my Pilates workout, you can find me sipping coffee while reading a book.
